WoW Realms
April 6th, 2007 by Shenron
World of Warcraft ( WoW ) uses server clusters, also referred to as ‘ realms ’, to allow players to choose their preferred game play type, and to allow the game to support as many subscribers as it does. Users may have up to ten characters per realm, and up to a maximum of fifty characters per account. Blizzard Entertainment posts announcements on the login screen of World of Warcraft about realm status or issues. The current status for each realm can also be viewed on their main website too.
There are four types of realms:
- Normal, which is also known as PvE or player versus environment.
- PvP, which stands for player versus player.
- RP which is a role playing Normal ( PvE ) server and
- RP PvP which is a role playing PvP server.
The last two of the list enforce a set of role playing rules in which players can be penalized for not abiding by the rules or not ‘ role playing ’ as it is called.
