Wow Races and Classes

April 24th, 2007 by Shenron

Players have to create characters, which then serve as their online personally in the virtual world of Azeroth. When the player creates a character in World of Warcraft, he chooses it from ten different races which have nine different character classes. The races are divided into two opposite factions which are The Alliance and The Horde.

The Horde faction constitutes of Orcs, Undead ( also referred to as Forsaken ), Tauren, Blood Elves ( which require The Burning Crusade expansion ) and Trolls.

The Allaince constitutes of Night Elves, Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves and Draenei ( require The Burning Crusade expansion )

There are also many NPC ( Non Playing Character ) races like the Goblins, Murlics, Naga and Ogres.

The nine classes which are available are Hunter, Druid, Mage, Priest, Paladin, Shaman, Rogue , Warrior and Warlock. The Paladin class previously was available exclusively to the Alliance and the Shaman was available only to the Horde. But with The Burning Crusade expansion, the Draenei ( Alliance ) are now able to play both the Paladins and Shamans, and the Blood Elves ( Horde ) are now able to play as Paladins, which thus removes the sense of exclusivity between the two factions. The classes in World Of Warcraft are basically limited by race. Taking in account the combinations only available with The Burning Crusade, there are twenty six possible combinations of race and class for each of the faction, which makes fifty two as the total possible combinations across both the factions. Without The Burning crusade expansion, the class and race combinations of the character are limited to twenty for each of the faction.
