Eve Online - a game that will captivate you
August 13th, 2007 by Shenron
Eve online is one of the many MMORPG’s to have come out over the recent months. There has been a lot of competition between them but there are aspects of Eve which are very unique and will compel you see exactly what you can make of yourself in this science fiction universe.
Along with the visuals comes a soundtrack created specifically for the game. The music has a feel to it that it belongs. The music is a relaxing affair, there are no strong beats or heavy sounds, but relaxing floating music, stuff you could imagine hearing as you’re drifting through space. Along with the music there are also the sound effects.
Skill learning has also taken a new step in this game. For most other MMORPG’s you level up by completing missions, or doing some other repetitive task over and over again. With Eve: Online you select a skill to learn and it will then present you with a countdown timer. This countdown timer still runs even when you are not playing the game, So if a skill says it will take 8 hours to complete, you can leave you computer off for the next 8 hours if you wish, knowing that when you return your skill will be there waiting for you.
All in all this is a fantastic game and if you let it, it can become a part of your life. I am glad that I started playing, I am sure you will too.
As a final score for this game, I can give it nothing less than 10 out of 10.

City of Heroes - An MMORPG that is fun!
July 31st, 2007 by Shenron
The thing with MMORPGs is once you first get the game you’re addicted. There seems to be limitless things to do and plenty of people to play with. But that feeling passes, quickly.
With City of Heroes you are brought to a new game entirely. There is no complex system of game play. All you need to know is this: Find enhancements, use them to make your powers stronger, now kill. That’s it.
While leveling up may seem hard past 15 rest assured it’s not WORK at all. I gain levels so quickly because I’m not even thinking about it! I’m just killing things all day! It’s FUN. You’re a Super Hero, with super hero powers.
Another unique element this game brought to MMORPGs is Pool Powers. Once you reach level 14 you have a set to choose from: Super Speed, Super Leaping, Teleporting, and yes, flying.
One unique aspect I thought was the diversity in missions. In many MMORPGs, you find yourself doing the same boring mission over and over again. But in City of Heroes each mission links with one another, and the best part of it, you are part of the story. I was hunting some Robots and when I got to the boss I found out he was PROGRAMMED to terminate me. Pretty cool!
All in all this is the first MMORPG that is actually a game instead of mental labor. Even if you hate MMORPGs give it a try. You’ll be ultimately impressed.

Simcity
July 28th, 2007 by Shenron
Simcity, the game was released in 1989, by Will Wright. The concept of the game is city building and therefore is meant for single player purpose.
The player gets to design or develop a city, with the help of tools. He or she has the liberty to make any establishments or structures of commercial, industrial or residential interest.
The most interesting aspect is that, the player gets to choose the tax rate, transportation systems and other administrative aspects of the city.
Even though, the game does not follow any specific goal, the development of the city is faced with challenges such as natural calamities and monsters.
The player has to surpass all this, in order to develop a successful city.
There have been several games released in the Simcity series. The game was recognized for its innovative concept as it broke the monotony of computer games.
It has also won many awards and is an interesting game to be played by a mature game player, with high level of creativity.

Need for Speed
July 28th, 2007 by Shenron
Need for speed is a game for people of all ages. The game revolves around the concept of car racing on different tracks and also with different cars. There have been many series of the game developed since its release. However the original game was launched way back in the year 1994.
The game allows the user to choose his crew from choices such as, ‘Scouts’ who help find shortcuts, ‘Blockers’, who help the player, wade through the track surpassing the opponents and ‘Drafters’, who give a speed boost.
The race types in Need For Speed include the Standard (Sprint, Circuit, Checkpoint, Speed trap, race wars etc), Canyons, where the race takes place on canyons as tracks, and the Pursuit type, which involves police pursuits. The best feature of the game is the car customization, which allows the player to choose the features of his car.
The game was welcomed by many people. However it was felt that it did not take much time to complete the game and the difficulty level was easy to break.
