Prince of Persia
July 22nd, 2007 by Shenron
Prince of Persia is a platform game originally developed by John Mechner in 1989 for the Apple ll which was seen as a great leap in the field of animation and computer games. As the name suggests the game is based on the ancient Persia. An orphan living in the streets scales the walls of the palace to catch a glimpse on the princess and falls in love with her .The princess also reciprocates the feelings of the prince, despite their class differences. The game starts with wicked Jaffar trying to seize the throne for him self .So the Prince is imprisoned. As he had desires to attain the Princess she is also imprisoned and given one hour to marry either him or die. So the Prince has a time of one hour to find the Jaffar, kill him and rescue the princess. The twist in the game is that the game should be played in real time and the prince will have to complete the quest without any breaksAt certain pointswe can save the game, though the time limit applies. The only one way to lose is to let the time expire and let the prince die. The game will again start from the beginning or from some midway checkpoints.
Below are some of the series of the game:
- The Shadow and the Flame
- The Prince of Persia Arabian Nights
- The Sands of Time
- Warrior within Revelations
- The Two Thrones
- Dagger of Time
The Walt Disney film Alladin has many similarities to the game .In the film Alladin tries to save the Princess (Jasmine)from the evil vizier Jaffar.
