The “CALL OF DUTY” is the first person shooter video game which simulates the infantry and the combined arms warfare of World War ll. The game was launched based on the Quake lll engine. The game was Published by Activision and developed by the Infinity ward.Throughout the single player mode the player is supported by computer controlled allies who range from two to a whole regiment of tanks. The computer controlled actors lend a helping hand to the player by covering fire and also deliver helpful dialogues at times of hardships. They provide a truly impressive and a realistic experience to the player.The multiplayer mode of the Call of Duty is very similar to that of many others first person shooters.
It includes the following modes of play:
- Behind Enemy Lines
- Death match
- Team Death match
- Retrieval
- Search and Destroy
- Headquarters
The game has a number of modifications of varying levels of content and development.

- Revolt
- Heat of Battle
- Swat
- Additional War Effects
- Co Dam
The game has even received awards such as:
- 2003 Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences-Game of the Year
- 2004 Game Developers Choice Awards-Excellence in Audio
The Call of Duty was featured in the third season of the of the U.S version of The Office in an episode called The Coup as a “Team Building Exercise”.
